'Still A Possibility': Fabrizio Romano Says Luis Diaz Could Make Saudi Arabia Switch In Summer

Luis Diaz may consider joining a Saudi Arabian club if he parts ways with Liverpool this summer, according to transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano. The Colombian winger still has two years left in his current contract with the Premier League side.

Ahead of the ongoing season, it was speculated that Diaz might take up a new challenge away from England, with several European outfits pursuing his signature. Barcelona reportedly saw Diaz as a priority target to strengthen their attack. Hansi Flick could be impressed by his eye for goal as well as his versatility.

Some Saudi Pro League teams also showed their interest in Diaz in the January transfer window but he chose to continue with Liverpool for the 2024-25 season. His contract is slated to expire in the summer of 2027.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have kept their eyes on Diaz and the final decision should be taken by the player himself. “I told you that Darwin Nunez is expected to go in the summer from Liverpool. Luis Diaz is a possibility, is not guaranteed but it’s still a possibility. From Saudi, they were interested in Luis Diaz in January.

The player decided to stay in Liverpool and focus on Liverpool season but now the Saudi clubs are still there for Luis Diaz,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.

“The interest is still there, Al Nassr and not only, so keep an eye on Luis Diaz because again we say it’s going to be a busy summer for Liverpool with many things to decide and also Luis Diaz now will have to make a decision of what he wants to do in the summer,” the journalist added. Al Nassr has signed some top-quality footballers over the last few seasons. The club splashed £64 million to take Jhon Duran on board earlier in January.

Mohamed Simakan, Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, Seko Fofana and Angelo have also joined Al Nassr on staggering deals since Ronaldo arrived in Saudi Arabia.

Diaz may come as a replacement for former Liverpool star Mane, whose contract is set to expire in 2026.
